Laura Prochilo is a multidisciplinary artist born in New York City and based in Shenzhen. Their practice moves fluidly among sculpture, installation, experimental film, photography, collage, performance, painting, and sound.
Work treats each medium as a site for crossing thresholds—between material and memory, immediacy and distance. Exhibition experience spans continents, with pieces held in private collections in countries such as England, Iceland, India, Thailand, mainland China, South Korea, Australia, the United States and Germany.
At the heart of Prochilo’s practice is an inquiry into time: its fragility, its velocity, and its impossible scale. They draw from the language of pop culture and the restless churn of the zeitgeist, tracking how images and ideas appear, shimmer briefly, and vanish into collective memory.
The work explores the paradox of the present moment as both a fleeting spark and an echo of the infinite, asking how identity is formed in a world where everything is accelerating yet constantly slipping away. The present is all we have, yet it is already slipping into the past as the future roars forward. This too shall pass.
